Seagate, Hitachi Talk Up 3-D Recording Plans (Article)

eWeek reports: "Hitachi Global Storage Technologies and Seagate chimed in Monday on perpendicular recording, a next-generation means of improving the areal density of hard disk drives."

Its a short article, but it is interesting. It talks about the next generation technology for writing data to the disk. You might be surprised how simple the technology sounds. I bet, Implementation is probably much harder.

Update:
I found a great video that explains this technology, they should call it 'Perpendicular Recording for Dummies'. It is definitely worth checking out.
